President Obama will do much to repair America's reputation abroad

Well, yes, it is the people, ideally, who run the US Government, but the Bush administration has done some serious damage to the collective power of the people, both in practice and in the world's perception of that power. Barack Obama as President will do much to restore the image of America in the rest of the world, which perceives us as racist (without acknowledging it) and mouthing the adage that we are a land of opportunity where anyone can become president, when the reality is quite different. For us to elect a man of mixed race background, who did work hard and achieved great things through his intelligence and work ethic, as opposed to being part of the ethnic majority or the ruling families, will help restore our reputation. In addition -- I am sick and tired of these candidates playing to our fears. Obama offers a new approach to the worlds ills - one that includes all of us in finding solutions, rather than promising that he has all the answers.
