much to profit from
The United States are a role model in many ways, yet not in all. I still profit from my stay in the USA, where I learned to believe into my own capabilities and where I was given a chance to proof them. I still profit from the feeling of personal freedom and the resepect towards me. I profit from the optimism and positive thinking. |

Does America WANT to be a role model?
In a BBC report (Newspod, Feb 12th) I heard an interview with an US Supreme Judge who was questioned whether the US allowing infliction of physical pain on terror suspects (he didn't want to call it torture) wouldn't make a negative example for countries whith poor human rights record.
The judge replied, that "we're not looking on what they are doing and they don't look on what we're doing". He made pretty clear that the US is not indending to be a role model, and that the US are just like any other state dealing with their own internal affairs.
Now, who said again that the US want to be a role model (of democracy for example)?
