Something has to be done

I don't know who has to start - UN or the USA or the EU - but something has to be done. There are people dying in Tibet while the world is preparing for the Olympics in China that claim the slogan "One World, One Dream". I find it hypocritical how celebrities and politicians (including German chancellor Merkel and former US president Bill Clinton) like to have themselves photographed together with the Dalai Lama, nodding their heads in understanding of his mission (to liberate Tibet from Chinese oppression) - and now thy watch Chinese military killing Tibet civilians. I also find it hypoctitical how we, the consumers, watch those events in horror and keep buying cheap Chinese goods, profiting from Chinese steel imports (that create jobs in our countries) and don't even think of changing anything in our behavior.

Where is the United Nations?

I wonder why the UN hasn't called for a meeting of all UN member states so far. There should be a discussion of whether to put sanctions on China - a boycott of the Olympic Games for example. I don't think it's the United State's role to intervene in a solo attempt.

However, I have no idea what kind of personal relations the US president has with the Chinese leaders. If I was US president and knew Chinese president Hu Jintao personally, I'd call him and tell him "Listen, stop this shit - it will harm your country more than it will help you!".
